The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) Manila Student Chapter (MSC) has conducted the first ever fun run held at T.M. Kalaw to Quirino Avenue, then back to T.M. Kalaw via Roxas Boulevard, January 26.
With the theme “Run As One”, the event has a four (4) kilometre route from T.M. Kalaw and Quirino Avenue, back and forth. 18 schools have attended the said event.
Prior to the actual day of the event, all runners were given a race kit. This comprised of a singlet, pin, fan, and a race bib.
The event’s registration and distribution of kit opened at 5:00 AM. The program started at 6:20 AM with an opening remark by Ms. Czarina N. Espiritu, IECEP-MSC 2013-2014 Chairman, to formally welcome all the participants, and then followed by a warm-up exercise lead by Mr. Ramsey V. Ramos, Jr., Publications Committee Head. After the exercise prepared their body to run, a go signal was commanded. The runners started yelled with their excitements as they across the Roxas Blvd. towards to Quirino Ave. via the South Bound.
As the race started, the Executive Board prepared the medals, freebies and certificates to be distributed as the runners reached the finish line. Freebies include the calendar card, water, biscuits, and magazines and newspaper from Manila Bulletin.
The event sponsors were the following: Mrs. Analyn Carandang, IECEP Manila and Manila Bulletin.
The race ended at 7:30 AM. After the race, awarding of the winners was commenced by Ms. Espiritu, Mr. Dorado, and Engr. Alejandro Ballado, Jr., IECEP-MSC Adviser. IECEP-MSC Fun Run concluded at around 8:00 AM. (AAP)
